BISD PARENT CONNECTIONS

SPECIAL EDUCATION STAFF DIRECTORY

The BISD Special Education Department provides high quality services to students with disabilities.

All school aged children with disabilities are entitled to free, appropriate, public education. We offer an array of services in a variety of settings.  Every child can benefit from instruction within the general education environment.  Our district emphasizes an atmosphere of acceptance and shared responsibility between staff, parents and students.

Special Education Services are available on all our campuses.  Most students with disabilities attend their home campus.  A variety of supports are available within the general classroom by a co-teacher, a paraprofessional, or a tutor.  In addition, modified curriculum materials are provided, and individual, specialized instruction is given outside of the general classroom.  Each student has an “individualized education plan” created just for them.
