Pumpkins on a Journey: Traveling Through Social Studies!
Just in case you missed it in the newsletter on Friday...
Get ready for a little fall fun with an educational twist! This year, East Elementary is taking our annual pumpkin decorating contest on a journey through Social Studies! Each grade level has been assigned a unique theme connected to what students are learning in the classroom.
We are inviting students to decorate a pumpkin that represents their grade level's theme. From community helpers and American symbols to Texas history and ancient civilizations, we can't wait to see our students bring their learning to life!
Let Their Creativity Shine!
This is a STUDENT creativity challenge! We encourage families to help brainstorm ideas and gather supplies, but we want our students to do as much of the painting and decorating as possible. Remember, we are celebrating creativity, learning, and student effort, not Pinterest-perfect pumpkins!
A Few Important Reminders:
- No carving! Pumpkins should be painted and may include additional craft decorations.
- Any size pumpkin is welcome.
- All designs must be school appropriate.
- Follow your grade level's assigned theme.
Judging: October 16
Pumpkins Go Home: October 16
Be sure to check out the flyer for your grade level's theme and plenty of ideas to get those creative juices flowing!
At East Elementary, we believe Learning Is a Journey, and we can't wait to see where our students' imaginations take them!
