First Day Review

We have had a great first day at BHS - I know it is going to be a wonderful year.  This week, teachers and staff will be reviewing the dress code with students.  Here are a few reminders for you to review with your student:

Dress and Grooming (All Grade Levels)

Students and parents may determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they comply with the following:

· Shorts and skorts may be worn. They must be an appropriate length.

· Skirts and dresses may be worn. They must be an appropriate length.

· Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times (no slippers).

· Students may not wear unusual costumes that attract attention and detract from the learning environment.

· Extreme hairstyles (including, but not limited to Mohawks, excessive shaved-in designs, and excessive spiked hair) are not acceptable. Colored highlights and streaks are acceptable. Hair shall be clean and well-groomed out of the eyes and face.

· Headwear is not permitted on campus. (e.g. caps, hats, etc.) Subject to confiscation if worn in the building.

· Hoodies can be worn in the building, but the hood must not be worn on the head.

· Blankets are not allowed to be worn or carried to classes.

· Any clothing that is suggestive or indecent or which causes distraction is prohibited. Specifically: tank tops, muscle shirts, halter tops and spaghetti straps. Exposed backs, cleavage, or midriffs, and see-through garments without a shell, slip, or shirt worn under the garments are prohibited. Sleeveless shirts are allowed for girls if the shoulders are covered and the shirt fits snugly under the arms. Boys may not wear sleeveless shirts. 

· Indecent or inappropriate patches, writings, or drawings on clothing or body are prohibited. Clothing with inappropriate advertising or statements that are lewd, offensive, vulgar, obscene, or inflammatory (e.g., alcoholic beverages, sex, drugs, tobacco, gangs, depicting death or death infliction, etc.) is prohibited.
