6 Weeks Updates and News
Hello BHS! Friday marks the end of the 4th 6 Weeks, and Spring Break will be here before we know it! I am sending out a few reminders and updates to students, parents, guardians, and staff. I also encourage you to email me or visit my office with any questions or concerns.
Reminders:
_ Please make sure you receive my weekly news. It's a vital way to stay connected and feel confident about upcoming events at BHS. If you are not receiving it, please email me so I can help resolve the issue.
- Please note there is a difference between BHS student email accounts and Parent Square/Student Square. There have been some issues with students not receiving Student Square notifications. If a student is not receiving Student Square notifications, they should visit someone in the BHS front office (counselor, admin, registrar, attendance, etc.) so we can resolve the issue.
- If a student has their cell phone or other device picked up, a parent or designated adult must come to the office to retrieve the device at the end of the instructional day (M-Th, 3:35; F, 2:35). Parents: Please ensure your contact information is current and accurate by updating it through the school office or online portal.
- BHS opens its doors each morning at 7:40. Students are encouraged to eat breakfast in the cafeteria and visit the library. They may also attend tutorials or sit in their first-period classroom.
- BHS does conduct regular tardy sweeps. This is to ensure students use their time wisely between classes and do not roam the hallways. Sometimes, there is a legitimate reason for a student to get caught in a tardy sweep. If students come to see me, I will always try to work with them – especially if their attendance and tardiness are not habitual problems. I welcome parent contact, but please also encourage your student to meet with me. I want to build a relationship with every student at BHS.
- Lady Lion Basketball is in the playoffs. Bi-District Playoff information is as follows:
o Lady Lions vs. Lubbock Estacado. Monday, February 16, at 6:00 pm at McMurry University.
- The BHS Work Program, under the direction of Ms. Bishop, will participate in an event sponsored by the city of Brownwood. They will learn job-related skills, interview strategies, and meet with local employers. BHS loves working within the local community.
- Every summer, TXDOT offers engineering, roadway maintenance, and administrative internships. These internships pay exceptionally well and typically have students who are on their way to college. TXDOT also has HS seniors as interns. Summer internships are now posted on the TXDOT website https://www.txdot.gov/about/careers.html.
