2x2 Reading List logo

2 X 2 Reading List is a project by the Children's Round Table, a unit of the Texas Library Association.  The 2X2 Reading List is developed solely to encourage free voluntary reading. The books in the list focus on 20 recommended books for children, age two to grade two. The list is updated yearly.

 

Texas Bluebonnet Award logo

 The Texas Bluebonnet Award is a unique program that encourages reading for pleasure and is aimed at students in grades 3-6.  Each year, 20 books are chosen as the “Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List” by the TBA selection committee. If students read a minimum of five books from the current master list (or have the books read aloud to them), they have the opportunity to vote for their favorite title during the month of January each year. The author of the book receiving the most votes statewide is declared the winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award. 

 

Tejas Star logo

The purpose of the list is to encourage children ages 5-12 to explore multicultural books and to discover the cognitive and economic benefits of bilingualism and multilingualism.

 

Texas Lonestar List logo

The Texas Lone Star list is a recommended reading list developed by public and school librarians from the Young Adult Round Table. The purpose of the list is to encourage students in grades 6, 7, or 8 to explore a variety of current books. The Lone Star list is intended for recreational reading.

Tayhas Logo

The object of the Tayshas project is to motivate young adults to become lifelong readers and to participate in the community of readers in Texas. This reading incentive program is designed for young adults in Texas, grades 9-12, who are encouraged to read books for pleasure from a selected reading list. 'TAYSHAS' takes its name from the Caddo Indian word meaning "friends or allies."

The Texas Maverick Graphic Novels Reading List (TMGNRL) is a recommended reading list developed by public and school librarians from the Young Adult Round Table (YART). The purpose of the list is to encourage students in grades 6-12 to explore a variety of current books. The TMGNRL list is intended for recreational reading.

The Little Maverick Graphic Novel Reading List is a recommended reading list designed for children in grades K-5. The purpose of the list is to encourage students to explore a variety of current graphic novels. The Little Maverick Graphic Novel Reading List is intended for recreational reading.

 

Spot Logo

This list encourages a greater understanding of what it means to be a Texan and an appreciation for the literary works of and about Texas and Texans.

TLA Lariat Logo

The annual list of Lariat award winners calls attention to outstanding fiction published during the year that merit special attention from adult readers. The main criteria for selecting books for the Lariat List is that they are “a pleasure to read.”

 

Texas Topaz logo

The purpose of the Texas Topaz Nonfiction Reading List is to provide children and adults with recommended nonfiction titles that stimulate reading for pleasure and personal learning. It is intended for recreational reading.
