BISD Food Service Receives Whole Grain Rich Exemption

At the request of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Cabinet (SSAC), Southwest Foodservice Excellence in partnership with Brownwood Independent School District applied for and received a whole grain rich exemption from the Texas Department of Agriculture.  The SSAC selected five items from a list provided by the Food Service Department.  The students opted to replace hamburger buns, tortillas, biscuits, spaghetti noodles, and macaroni noodles with flour based options instead of the whole grain items currently offered.  The Food Service Department began serving these options on October 6th.
