  • Aubrey Kirk Awarded Houston Livestock Show Scholarship

    Aubrey Kirk has been selected to receive the Houston Livestock Show scholarship in the amount of $20,000. This is a renewable scholarship, meaning after two years, if she meets the qualifications and standards of the scholarship, she is awarded $20,000 more. Thanks to the generosity of numerous scholarship donors, the Texas FFA will award more than 140 scholarships to outstanding graduating seniors through its academic scholarship program. These scholarships are awarded based on academic and FFA achievements as well as the member's performance in an interview process.

  • Madison Arial Awarded the Debra Kirkland Memorial Scholarship

    The Debra Kirkland Memorial Scholarship was created to honor a Brownwood ISD senior who embodied the compassionate and enthusiastic spirit of Kirkland, the twenty-five-year BISD employee who passed away in 2016. This was the first year the scholarship became available to a BHS senior who had served for two years as a SOTX Best Buddy. Madison Arial, a BHS Senior who has been a SOTX Best Buddy since her freshman year, has been selected as the first recipient.

    Based on Governor Abbott’s Executive Orders released on June 3rd, Brownwood ISD is making positive adjustments to Friday’s parade and graduation ceremony.

  • Brownwood High School 2020 Graduation at Gordon Wood Stadium

    Graduation for the BHS Class of 2020 is planned at Gordon Wood Stadium (GWS), 3206 Milam Drive Brownwood, TX 76801, on June 5th at 8:15 pm. A ticket for each guest is required for Friday’s BHS graduation at Gordon Wood Stadium. Tickets will not be available at the gate. Guest tickets must be picked up prior to Friday in the front office of BHS from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. A health form for each individual attending graduation must be turned in prior to receiving a ticket. Senior graduates do not need a ticket, but must turn in a health form to participate in the ceremony.

  • BHS Announces Class of 2020 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

    Brownwood High School (BHS) has announced its Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2020. Valedictorian honors were presented to Caden Reagan, and Salutatorian honors were awarded to James Bautista.

    The HOSA chapter at Brownwood High School (BHS) continues to develop well-rounded students. This 2019-2020 school year provided ample opportunities for students to excel, and excel they did. Two students in particular, James Bautista, and Sierra Jackson, earned their way to qualifying for remarkable scholarship opportunities.

    Cheeseburgers that were served as the first hot meal pick-up on Wednesday, April 8, were a hit. BISD Food Service/SFE prepared and served 948 lunches for kids today. Combined with breakfast, a total of 1,896 meals were provided!

    Lindsay Smith has been selected as the next Brownwood High School (BHS) Principal. Smith, previously an Assistant Principal at BHS, has been working as the Interim Principal since March 9.

  • BHS Students Receive Angelo State Carr Scholarships

    Twelve Brownwood High School seniors received an academic scholarship to attend Angelo State University, on their journey to pursuing further educational possibilities. One of these students, James Bautista, received the Carr Distinguished Academic Scholarship to attend ASU in the fall. Only five incoming students are given the award, an annual $15,000 scholarship, renewable for up to $60,000.

    During this time of COVID-19, school districts have had to close while still providing the critical services that are normally expected inside the building. School nutrition has had to adapt to the needs of the communities to continue to provide nutritious meals while traditional school is closed.

    On March 31st, Governor Abbott closed all Texas schools through May 1. This closure will affect some of our planned Senior activities. We are still committed to give our Seniors a wonderful final experience at BHS.
