About Our Class...
First and foremost, I am a wife and mom.  My desire is to create a safe and fun learning environment that feels like family.  Your student will be treated with the same respect and care that I would expect my own children to experience at school.

Grading Policy
Every student has the opportunity to learn the concepts necessary to foster social academic success in first grade and beyond.  A combination of whole group, small group and individual instruction is implemented to support learning. We want all students to master letter and sound recognition, read simple sentences, count to 100, read and write numbers to 20, and compose and decompose numbers to 10.  In addition, they are introduced to science, social studies, and citizenship concepts.  Grading is based on mastery of learning objectives at the end of each "nine weeks" grading period.

Communication and Discipline
BISD has implemented the R.O.A.R. system that rewards positive behavior choices.  Kind and helpful behavior is fostered through firm, fair, and consistent rules, rewards, and consequences.  Character development based on the seven havits outlined in The Leader in Me.  A daily communication page is included in a folder that is sent home daily.  Student behavior is noted daily and parents are expected to sign or initial the communication sheet every day. The clip system serves as a visual reminder and offers students the opportunity to experience the natural consequences of their choices through rewards.  Every student is part of our class "family" and the classroom is a safe and supportive environment to make mistakes and redirect behavior.

I welcome input and questions from parents and caregivers.  I will gladly discuss your student's progress at any time, so please feel free to contact me using the telephone number and email provided above.  Although we typically do not receive calls while we are teaching, I make every effort to return calls and emails as promptly as possible.  I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know and teach your student!!!
