As a 1993 graduate of Brownwood High School, I take special pride in working with the students of Brownwood ISD. During my time here as a student, I was involved in UIL activities, clubs, and advanced academic endeavors, and I understand the pride and spirit of community that comes from being a Brownwood graduate. I hope to encourage students to become involved each day in continuing the proud traditions found at BHS while supporting those students and staff who would strive to make it even better!
After graduating from BHS, I attended Angelo State University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music with a minor in English Literature. Like many college graduates, I returned home uncertain of what to do or where to go next. It was during this time that I was blessed to be hired as a substitute teacher for BISD. Working with the students and teachers at Brownwood Middle School in the spring of 1997, I discovered my passion for teaching. So I returned to school at Tarleton State University to earn my teacher certification.
Prior to becoming a counselor at BHS 4 years ago, I taught for 20 years in various Texas schools teaching subjects including Music, English Language Arts, Speech, Debate, and Theater. My favorite years of teaching have been those spent in Brownwood ISD teaching HS English, Speech, and Debate, and music at East Elementary. I believe with all my heart that one cannot find better teachers, students, and administration anywhere in Texas.
My husband Derick and I decided there would be no better place to raise our family than Brownwood, TX. Rylah is currently attending BHS as a senior where she participates in FFA, HOSA, Student Council and Key Club and is a member of the National Honor Society. Cooper attends Brownwood Middle School as a 7th grader and participates in UIL Chess, Athletics, 4H and Junior FFA. Both kids are currently working on sheep projects and antcipating a busy year of stock shows and 4H events. We "believe in the future of agriculture" and are an active 4H and FFA family and strongly support our agricultural family "learning to do" and striving to make "the best better"!
