Hi! Welcome to the BISD Digital Media Center website. If we can help you with any information needs or if you have any questions, please contact my staff or me. We will be glad to assist you!
Central Texas is a long way from the small German community in which I grew up in the northeast corner of the Texas Panhandle. I was actually closer to the capital of South Dakota than to our own state capital, Austin, TX.
I graduated from West Texas A&M in Canyon, TX with a Bachelor of Science Degree and teaching certifications in English and Physical Education. After teaching English and PE, reading, coaching girls' basketball, tennis and track, serving as the district director of UIL events and One Act Play and many other assignments, I decided to grow up and become a librarian. I returned to West Texas AM and earned my Master's Degree and Learning Resources Endorsement.
In 38 years I have seen major changes to the responsibilities that entail being a librarian along with our titles: librarian, media specialist, teacher-librarian, digital media specialist and more. Technology has brought so many changes and advantages to our work space. I love seeing my students turn into readers, figuring out that one clue that helps them with research, and acquiring skills that will help them be successful in college.
Outside of the library, I love spoiling my grandchildren, visiting with my 2 sons and my daughter-in-law and walking the RiverWalk in San Antonio. In my spare time I am a big-time reader, enjoy sewing and love cooking. Spending time outdoors and with my friends and family is important to me. I hope some day to become an awesome artisan bread maker!

Despite the distance from where I grew up, I still love living in central Texas close to the Hill Country and I love my job working with students and teachers to create life-long learners!
