    Classroom Standards

    Be on time and in your seat when the bell rings.

    Come prepared with your supplies and be ready to learn.

    Food and drinks are not allowed, bottled water only.

    Cell phones are to be silenced and put away during class instruction.

    No cursing or teasing. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.

    Respect other students’ right to learn and my right to teach. 

    Inappropriate Behavior

    Disrespecting me or other students in the class

    Disrupting classroom instruction

    Sleeping or putting your head down on your desk

    Refusing to participate in group or partner activities

    Texting, messaging, or updating social media during class

    Bullying other students verbally or physically

    Destruction of school property 

    Consequences of Inappropriate Behavior

    Option 1: Verbal Redirection

    Option 2: Remove from the situation

    Option 3: Phone call to parent

    Option 4: Referral to the office

    Tutoring and Conference Times

    To access student grades online, see Mrs. Salazar in the office to get an authorization code. Please utilize www.kahnacademy.org for extra help at home. Failing students are encouraged to attend tutorials Tuesdays or Thursdays until their grade is brought up to passing. My conference is 3th period, 10:00 – 10:30.   My number is 646-9549 ext. 2205.     Cell phone Policy

    Cell phones will be silenced and put away during class instruction. If a student is found using a cell phone during instruction, it will be taken up and the parent will be charged $15.  Students may listen to music on their phones during classwork. If a student is caught with a cellphone during a test, the student will be sent to the office with a referral and will receive a zero on the test. The student will have one week to retest with a maximum score of 70.

    Classwork, Makeup Work, and Retests

    Classwork is due at the end of each class. Makeup work will be allowed in number of days absent plus one and will have a maximum grade of 100. According to school policy, students shall be allowed a reasonable opportunity to correct or redo work to a maximum of a 70.  If the student fails a test, he or she may take a retest within three days of when they received their test grades. The maximum grade on a retest is a 70. 

    TINspire Calculators

    Calculators will be used in class everyday. Students will also have a calculator installed on their computers. Learning to use the calculator is an essential part of this Algebra 1 course.

    STAAR Test

    The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness or STAAR is an End of Course test given in May to all 9th graders who have completed Algebra 1. If the student does not pass the test, they are required to attend summer tutoring and will retake the test in July. If the student does not pass the July test, they may be placed in a tutorial class.
