Through a waiver from the USDA and the Texas Department of Agriculture, Brownwood ISD is excited to announce we are able to continue providing free breakfast and lunch for students through the end of the current school year (May 27, 2021).
Brownwood ISD Food Service Announces Free Lunches for Students Starting in October
Brownwood ISD (BISD) Food Service has announced that beginning October 1, 2020, all Brownwood ISD students will be able to eat lunch FREE. Made possible through funding provided by the USDA and the program which helped provide free meals earlier during the COVID-19 pandemic, the benefit has now been extended to continue helping families and students within the district.
BISD students will be able to eat lunch FREE at their school through December 31, or until the state funding runs out.

Brownwood ISD announced its policy today for providing free and reduced-price meals for children served under the attached current income eligibility guidelines. Each school/site or the central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by anyone on request.
Starting on August 19, 2020, Brownwood ISD will begin distributing letters to the households of the children in the district about eligibility benefits and any actions households need to take to apply for these benefits. Applications also are available at Brownwood ISD Central Support Center, 2707 Southside Drive, online @ brownwoodisd.org and all Brownwood ISD School Campuses.
