During the 2012-2013 school year Brownwood High School implemented a new program with the help of health science teacher Annalyn Deen. A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class was added to the health science track to allow senior students to become certified nursing assistants by the end of the school year. This is a State of Texas mandated-course that has very specific requirements for each student to pass.
Coggin Elementary and Brownwood Intermediate schools went on lockdown, Thursday, May 16th, for brief period around 1:10 pm. The reported situation was investigated by district personnel and the lockdown was lifted after it was determined that there was no threat and the report was a false alarm.
Coggin Elementary students participated in a chess tournament in Goldthwaite on May 6th.
On Wednesday, May 8th, Brownwood Middle School recognized Family Consumer Science Education teacher, Ann Costa, in its annual “Joan Stewart Point of Light” ceremony.
A group of 16 Brownwood High School students who took part in the PLAN (Pre-ACT) testing were honored at the Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, May 13th, for meeting the College Readiness score in all four targeted areas.
Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) awards included the Silver Star Award for Brownwood ISD’s mobile app and the Bronze Star Award for the district’s “Inside the Pride” newsletter that is emailed out regarding the latest school related news.
On Friday, May 17th, the second-annual Little Lion Olympics will kick-off a day of healthy athletic competition and Olympic-style events with the Opening Ceremony at 9:00 a.m.
