On Friday, May 17th, East Elementary held its first-ever Career Day. Throughout the year, third-grade students at East Elementary School have been learning about what they can expect after moving on from the third-grade.
On Monday, May 6th, Brownwood Intermediate School held its annual “Rocket Day” event. Sixth-grade students lined up on the BHS girls’ softball field and took turns igniting their rockets.
On Monday, May 20th, Woodland Heights Elementary announced the winners of their first ever second-grade science fair. Projects were on display in the digital media center starting on Tuesday, May 14th and were visible throughout the week.
During the 2012-2013 school year Brownwood High School implemented a new program with the help of health science teacher Annalyn Deen. A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class was added to the health science track to allow senior students to become certified nursing assistants by the end of the school year. This is a State of Texas mandated-course that has very specific requirements for each student to pass.
Coggin Elementary and Brownwood Intermediate schools went on lockdown, Thursday, May 16th, for brief period around 1:10 pm. The reported situation was investigated by district personnel and the lockdown was lifted after it was determined that there was no threat and the report was a false alarm.
Coggin Elementary students participated in a chess tournament in Goldthwaite on May 6th.
On Wednesday, May 8th, Brownwood Middle School recognized Family Consumer Science Education teacher, Ann Costa, in its annual “Joan Stewart Point of Light” ceremony.
