Northwest Elementary is very fortunate to house two computer labs. Our Kindergarten and First Grade lab has 30 computers and is called the Red Lab. The Blue Lab is for Second and Third Grade and has 32 computers. The software we use enhances our curriculum and is TEKS and TAKS aligned.
The labs have regularly scheduled classes Monday through Thursday, with each class getting to come to lab twice a week for 45 minute sessions. We also use the labs for after school tutoring and on Fridays for any teacher who wants to give his/her students extra time on the computers.
Each classroom at Northwest Elementary has at least three networked computers and one standalone. These are used especially during Center Time. It is wonderful to see the students learning to use technology at such a young age.
