Children and teens who learn about life risks from their parents are up to 50% less likely to use drugs than those who do not.
Help your child stay safe and make healthy choices by:
1.) Talking and listening regularly.
The car is a great place to have life impacting discussions as you travel on a daily basis.
2.) Being involved directly in your child’s everyday world.
Spend time doing activities with them and/or attend activities they are involved in at school. Your presence is most valuable in their personal growth.
3.) Set Limits.
Children and teens thrive with love and boundaries. It provides security for them and lets them know you love and care for them. The time and effort you put into making and enforcing boundaries will pay off.
4.) Make it clear that you do not want him or her drinking or using drugs.
Don’t assume that they know this by just being around you. Voice your concerns and set the proper example for them by making healthy choices.
