Human Body Systems

INTRODUCTION:

As a class, you have a challenge.  You will work in small groups to present a project to your classmates.  Each project will teach about the human body, specifically one of five human body systems that work together to keep you alive and moving.  Each student will have a part in this project and will be responsible for working closely with his/her team.  You will be assigned to a team and have an important role in your team's final presentation.  Your team will be assigned a specific human body system to prepare for presentation.  Your team will be the only team in your class that is responsible for presenting information on that particular human body system.

All work will be done, of course, on the computer and will be presented in front of your class in a few weeks.  So, while you are researching your topic and preparing your lesson, you will also be learning and reinforcing computer skills!

TASK:  You will be assigned a team/group that will be working TOGETHER on this presentation!  Each person in the group will have a part in preparing your finished presentation.  Together, your goal is to present three learning projects that you will share with your classmates.  These three projects will explain and teach your classmates about the specific human body system which your team has been assigned.  The five body systems we will cover will be the Digestive System, Nervous System, Muscular System, Skeletal System, and Respiratory System.

PROCEDURE

  1. Fill out the TOP PORTION of the Assignment Sheet as a group.  Sign your names at the bottom and be thinking of a group name!

  2. Each person will begin researching your topic by completing the Research Questions and Vocabulary worksheets independently.

  3. As a group, decide who will be in charge of which projects.  (*Keep in mind, ALL team members must approve the finished project before presentation.)

  4. Complete your three projects according to the specific project requirements.   Follow these links to see each project's requirements...

RESOURCES: There are some good internet sources for this project listed on the task requirement pages (see links just above this).  They will have the information you need to prepare a well thought out presentation.  You may use other web sites, but be sure that you are working and not playing or wasting time!  If you need to go outside of the recommended sites, use caution and get teacher approval.  The following links will help you with your Vocabulary and Research Questions Worksheets as well as your research...

CHECKLIST:  Please go over this checklist before presentation to make sure you are ready to teach your classmates about your topic.  Click here to see the checklist.  Your teacher will provide you with a copy of the checklist.
