At Brownwood Middle School we are committed excellence in all areas. Number one, we are committed to being great academically. We are very proud of the fact that our TAKS scores have consistently been on the rise. We have been a recognized campus and earned numerous Gold Performance awards each of the last five years, and all of our scores are well above state averages. This past year was our best ever. Our scores were in the exemplary range (the highest possible) in all tested areas except eighth grade Science. Any year besides last year, our scores in Science would have been exemplary. In fact, those Science scores were eighteen points above state average. We also have Pre-AP offerings in all core academic classes to challenge even the most gifted students, and we have excellent technology resources and classes to help prepare our students for future success. Of course we have excellent tutorial and remedial programs to help struggling learners.

Besides being excellent academically, we strive for excellence in all areas at BMS. We believe that a well-rounded student helps better allow students success and happiness. We have outstanding athletic programs in Boys football, basketball, track, and tennis and Girls volleyball, basketball, track, tennis, and cheerleading. Our outstanding fine arts programs include Art, Band, and Choir. Career and technology programs we offer are Family and Consumer Science, Metal Shop, Woodshop, Computer and Technology Applications, and Career Investigations. We also have various organizations that provide opportunities for leadership development, competition, and service. These organizations include Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, FCCLA, FCA, UIL Academics, Junior FFA, Builder’s Club, and Yearbook. At BMS there really is something for everyone.
