BROWNWOOD INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

Brownwood Intermediate School has consistently earned “Recognized” status and  received Gold Performance Awards for a high percentage of “Commended” students in reading, science, and math.  In addition, the campus has been selected for three consecutive years to receive the Texas Education Excellence Grant.

PURSUE EXCELLENCE!  This is the slogan shown on staff and student tee-shirts at Brownwood Intermediate School.  Each six weeks, the accomplishments of students who “pursue excellence” are recognized in our campus newspaper, “The Cougar Chronicle” and at special awards assemblies that honor exemplary behavior and students who achieve the “A” and “A/B” honor roll.  Throughout the year, students also have numerous opportunities to pursue excellence in reading contests and service projects.

At Brownwood Intermediate School we work in teams, and we believe in the TEAM concept – Together Everyone Achieves More.  Community connections that are important to our students are:  DARE, Choices, a student mentor program utilizing high school seniors, and the BHS Lady Lion mentors.  The Howard Payne University connection is expanding. HPU Lady Jackets serve as volunteer guest speakers and readers, and HPU students provide assistance in FitnessGram testing and supervise students on tours and activities at the HPU campus.  In addition, community guest speakers representing a variety of interests and cultures regularly visit our campus.  These connections are all valued by our school.  We know that our achievements would not be possible without a TEAM effort involving staff, students, parents, and members of the community.
