About Mr. Gabaree
I began my career in education in 1982 as a teacher and coach, and spent 13 years in the classroom and coaching athletes. In 1995, I became an administrator at Early ISD, and obtained my Masters in Mid-Management in 1998. I joined Brownwood ISD in 2001, and have been in the Central Office since then. In 2003, I earned my Superintendent Certification.
My primary responsibilities as Assistant Superintendent include overseeing all matters of finance, business office, personnel, facilities, and transportation. One of my proudest accomplishments of the BISD that I have been a part of is the $30 million renovation of all our campuses, completed in 2009.
I believe in community involvement, and currently serve on the board of the Family Services Center and the board of the Brownwood Area Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
My family is also dedicated to education. My wife of 31 years, Lisa, is retired after 33 years of service. My daughter, Erin Thomas, is a kindergarten teacher at Prosper ISD. My daughter, Alexa Hursh, is a registered nurse at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, TX.
