On April 24th, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital announced that Brownwood High School Student, Cheyenne McFall, will receive a $3000 scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Brownwood High School FFA students recently competed in the Area FFA CDE (Career Development Event) Contest held at Tarleton State University on April 10, 2013. The students competed in categories that included Entomology, Floriculture, Horse, Livestock, Nursery/Landscape, Range, Veterinary Science, and Wildlife Contests.
Students at Brownwood High School are in different stages of writing a research paper. Part of writing that paper included searching for print sources in the BHS Digital Media Center. Starting with Senior and ending with Freshman, each class spent two weeks in the Digital Media Center using the computer system to search for books, websites and databases. Students spent a day learning how to access and use the computer system, how libraries are categorized and library etiquette. In the second week, students learned how to used databases and about copyright and how important it is in today's society.
The Brownwood High School HOSA chapter recently attended the state conference held in Galveston, Texas on April 10th-13th. Fifteen BHS students competed at the state level, and two students qualified for nationals.
Cost is $12 for regular short-sleeve and $15 for dri-fit.
Coach Bob Shipley will conclude his stellar four year career at Brownwood ISD as he announced his resignation this morning. Coach Shipley’s career at Brownwood included a football record of 38-14 in Brownwood and 125-46 overall with 4 consecutive years of playoff appearances and three deep in the playoffs three times in a row. One of the most notable highlights was a run to the state semi-finals in 2010.
Students enrolled in Mrs. Connie Sliger's Fashion Design class at Brownwood High School recently received a third place award and an honorable mention for student blocks submitted in the National Quilt Museum block contest.
Advanced Building Trades students at Brownwood High School won Best-in-Show and a 1st place/superior ratings at the State SkillsUSA Conference held April 3-6 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
